Scrap The Council Tax

The Liberal Democrats are calling on the Government to scrap the unfair Council Tax.
Pensioners and the poor pay more under Labour than anyone else. The Liberal Democrats would scrap the Council Tax and replace it with a local income tax based on your ability to pay.
The Council Tax was a Conservative idea - when they were panicking over how to scrap the poll tax - but Labour have made it worse since they came to power.
The Council Tax means that the poorest 20% of pensioners pay nearly 6 times more as a share of their income on Council Tax than do the richest 20 % of non-pensioners.
