Councillor Hugh Patterson Works Hard for All Residents
Liberal Democrat Councillor Hugh Patterson has worked very hard on behalf of all residents in Capel, Five Oak Green and Tudeley. Below are some of his recent achievements:-
1. Flood Prevention - He has campaigned successfully to ensure the Borough addressed the flooding issue in the parish. He was the lead member in the Borough's review of land drainage policy last year, and has been a member of the Parish Council Flood Committee for four years.
2. Highways - He has lobbied hard with others to win speed restrictions along the B2017 through Five Oak Green and Tudeley:
Result:
2002 - 30mph buffer zone through Five Oak Green.
2004 - 40mph limit through Tudeley (coming this summer).
3. Planning - He has used his interest in planning to represent local peoples' interests on the Western Area Planning Committee. In particular he has fought hard to protect the Green Belt which surrounds the Parish and gives it its separate identity.
4. Planning - He argued strongly against the building of a car showroom opposite the beautiful parkland of Somerhill. He has also argued against development in the centre of Five Oak Green on flooding grounds.
5. Refuse collection: He has supported local people campaigning for a return to a weekly green bin collection and a more effective recycling policy.
Liberal Democrats - making a real difference.
