Tunbridge Wells Liberal Democrats PPC Laura Murphy, Cllr Peter Crawford and Jamie Johnson honour the fallen on Rememberance Sunday
Members from the Liberal Democrats in Tunbridge Wells joined the parade on Remembrance Sunday to lay wreaths in honour to those who had fought in conflict since World War I.
Cllr Peter Crawford was asked this year to lay a wreath on behalf of the British Limbless Ex-Servicemen Association for the first time. " I wanted to lay this wreath on behalf of BLESMA as there are 7 of our forces in Iraq who have lost limbs to date. The most famous amputee in our armed forces was Douglas Bader who was an inspiration to many during World War II and subsequently." Peter, who had an amputation of the right leg below the knee, currently runs a support group for amputees with Jayne Burns, vascular nurse specialist at the Kent and Sussex Hospital.
PPC Laura Murphy added, "It was an honour to perform this task on behalf of all Liberal Democrats in Tunbridge Wells. It was particularly important when many of our armed forces are currently engaged in hostilities in Iraq."
