"Local residents will have a strong voice when they act together."
Laura Murphy, Parliamentary Candidate, attended the Hawkenbury Village Association AGM last week. Laura said, "With so many people complaining about the lack of community involvement across the area, it was wonderful to see such a large turnout at the AGM."
The Association recently contributed towards the cost of a bicycle for the local PC, as well as being involved in consultations regarding planning applications in the area. "The local residents are really getting involved in their community and, as a result, they are making a difference."
Laura has been closely involved in setting up the Showfields and Ramslye Community Association (CARES). "Getting together means that local residents can have a strong voice when dealing with all the different agencies in Tunbridge Wells. They can tell agencies what they want, rather than being dictated to by the official bodies."
