Marguerita "Liberal Democrats will scrap the ID cards to pay for more police."
Marguerita Morton, County Candidate, commented this week on statements by local teenagers that they were frightened to walk the streets at night for fear of being assaulted. "It's disturbing that young and old people alike find it difficult to enjoy Tunbridge Wells in the evening because of their fear of crime."
"We need to address this by campaigning for more investment in community facilities," Marguerita added, "such as the hall in Crundwell Road so that people have somewhere safe to go in the evening. We also need to increase the level of facilities for our young people by working with the youth service and other organisations."
Laura Murphy, Parliamentary Candidate added, "With the Liberal Democrat policy to scrap identity cards, we would release £5.5billion to employ more police and PCSOs in Tunbridge Wells. Together with our plans to cut the bureaucracy and investment in more up-to-date equipment, this will free the police to do the job they want to do - make our streets and homes safer."
